The great outdoors is a wonderful place, perfect for adventures, imaginative play and family fun. However, we know that the British weather can sometimes be less than kind, but wet or rainy days don't have to mean an end to enjoying your Feather Down stay.
Forget soggy tents and cabin fever, we’ve reimagined the wet weather glamping experience. Nestled on a working farm surrounded by rolling hills, misty meadows, and babbling creeks, our luxury canvas hideaways offer a front-row seat to nature’s rainy day magic.
Rainy day ideasYour cosy canvas hideaway is the perfect escape from any rainy weather, but the joy of being outdoors can transcend any weather forecast! Do you remember the joy of jumping in muddy puddles after the rain, or watching your children squeal with laughter as they enjoy doing the exact same.
With wellie boots and a raincoat packed, you can get out into the beautiful countryside as a family without worry. The sound of raindrops falling, the smell of dew on the morning grass, the refreshing energy the wind brings, all centres us back to reconnect with nature and allows us all to thrive and grow.
Glamping in the rain doesn't need to dampen your spirits! Here's some of our activity ideas for indoor activities on a less-than-sunny farm stay:
☕ Cosy comforts
Warm up by the wood-burning stove with a book, hot chocolate and listen to the raindrops dancing on your deck.
🧩 Family game time
A pack of playing cards can lead to hours of enjoyment, or borrow some of the children's games and puzzles from the honesty shop, perfect for family time under canvas.
🧑🍳 Seasonal farm-to-table feasts
Use the wood burning stove to not only warm your hideaway, but to cook a delicious meal. Grab some tasty ingredients from the honesty shop and enjoy slow cooking a tasty pasta dish, sausage stew or beef tagine - yum!
🎨 Slow moments & creative retreats
Take some crafty activities and enjoy family time around the dining table: painting, journaling, modelling clay or weaving - you could even use resources found on a scavenger hunt (stick painting or grass weaving anyone?).
