Enjoy an October stay at our farms with an experience that warms your soul. Delight in the changing colours in nature as leaves crunch beneath your feet on during a lovely autumn walk before warming up in front of the wood-burning stove in your cosy canvas hideaway. During autumn, there is plenty to discover on the farm during the day from meeting the animals to watching the farmer finish the last harvest jobs, and as soon as the evening falls, there is nothing as cosy as playing games by candlelight and sleeping in the warm cupboard bed.

Why stay during October?

October weather can be changeable, but with your wellies and jackets, there's many great reasons why an October farm stay is a unique choice.

💚 Clear skies for stargazing - many of our farms are located away from towns or even in dark sky areas, meaning the chance of seeing stars is much higher. Snuggle down around a campfire and watch the twinkling sky above.

💚 Wildlife in abundance - Watch as hedgehogs, deer, owls and squirrels forage through woods and meadows to build up food supplies before their winter hibernation. And of course there will still be animals to see at most of our farms, sometimes now in their sheds or yards to keep warm.

💚 Quieter and small-scale - with our small-scale locations, you'll never be surrounded by crowds of people. But at this time of year, it's often quieter and more serene, giving even more opportunity to slow down from a busy pace of life and enjoy quality family time together.

💚 Last memories before winter - we are drawing close to the end of the season so this is your last chance to enjoy some off-grid family time before next spring. And no matter the weather, grab a jacket and some wellies for some outdoor adventure together.

This was our 3rd Feather down trip - a new farm each time and College Farm didn’t disappoint. Marcus and Lucy were wonderful hosts and took so much time to chat and encourage the kids to get involved with the daily animal feeding which was a perfect way to start our day and return to after some lovely days out exploring the local area.We had everything we needed, loved the integrated shower in our tent and extra fridges available in the super hot weather. But even despite the heat the tents were lovely and cool at night and the star gazing was perfect.And the hay barn and play area provided entertainment till dark every night for our kids who made great pals with our fellow campers.Definitely worth a visit!

We adore Featherdown, and in particular College Farm. Lucy is an incredible host, the farm is perfect for the children to run around, meet other children and explore independently. The animals are well cared for and very friendly, the hay bales, playground and football goal provided hours of fun for all ages. The tents are immaculate, very cosy and have all the necessities to make the experience feel like a real break and chance to unwind. The recommendations for local activities, pubs and farm shops were all 10/10 and we can't wait to come back again.

Our stay on Warren Farm was idyllic, from the view to the warm welcome. I don’t think the photos do this place justice! The kids had proper freedom on the farm and enjoyed running wild with all the other kids. Everything you can think you might need is covered and I was most impressed with the tent - if you can even call it that! Kate and James have got a little slice of heaven here, we can’t wait to return

An amazing experience with incredible views of the cove at Kingswear. Waking up to the beauty of the area was a pure privilege as was star-gazing at night. The glamping experience itself was faultless and consistent with other farms we have stayed at so this was perfect as we knew what the expect and could plan easily for (especially with a 2 and 5 year old). The warmth and friendliness of Edward upon arrival, throughout and at the end made our stay the best stay we have ever had in any Featherdown location. Edward’s kind, thoughtful and professional interactions were certainly one of the highlights and strengths at Fountain Violet Farm. I would highly recommend booking a stay to anyone thinking of staying at a Featherdown location - you will NOT be disappointed!

Two moms and two 4 year old girls stayed for 4 nights. We absolutely loved it..! It was great experience for all of us. Hannah and Will are very friendly and everything was well organized. Their pizza was 10/10 ..!! Easy to find the way and tent was cosy and nice. No electricity is not an issue at all. We enjoyed our slow days and highly recommend to drive around their neighborhood as well. Whole village is just beautiful!!

We had the best time staying on Sunninglye Farm! Gill was a great host, and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay - she gave us a tour of the farm and the children loved meeting the animals, collecting eggs from the hens and feeding the lambs. She also helped me to the tent with our bags on arrival which was much appreciated as I was travelling with 2 children and had quite a lot of stuff! The tent was amazing, it was comfortable and spacious whilst still feeling like a camping experience and being close to nature. I was able to book extras including a cot and high chair which was really helpful. There was lots for us to do on site, other than the farm visits mentioned above, some highlights were: visiting the pond for kayaking (our dog loved swimming there too!); s’mores on the campfire; the play area, swings and treehouse; pizza night on Saturday! Overall we had a lovely time and definitely hope to visit again in future.

This is our second FDF trip and we love it! Manor farm was lovely!! The hot tub was an awesome added extra and the opportunity to cuddle new born lambs made the whole experience for our daughters! There was loads to do in the local area but equally we could have stayed on the farm the whole time! Such a magical experience for the whole family! We will definitely be back again next year!

We all had an absolutely brilliant time at Upper Shadymoor. The kids (& adults) were enchanted by everything from the candle lit bungalow & playing in their bed cubbies, cooking on the wood stove and making camp fires, the little playground, the animals especially interacting with the ponies and dogs and feeding chickens, the fruit orchard, and of course, the swimming, kayaking and hot tub. Joy and Kevin were really lovely hosts and we very much enjoyed their farm tour and pony craft, and all their knowledge and humour, and connecting with the kids. The whole setting was a breath of fresh air, we slept well and comfortably, we loved cooking and eating outdoors, and found we had everything we needed provided, including delicious extras in the farm shop bacon, eggs, sausages and pizza dough / pizza oven
