Will I be cold at night?

The wood-burning stove is great at heating the hideaway throughout the year. In slightly colder months (early spring / late autumn), you'll benefit from bringing thick socks, slippers and warm pjs, but our thick duvets and fluffy pillows will keep you cosy at night.

How does it work with no electricity?

Great question! There are oil lamps and candles provided for light, and your wood-burning stove is used to warm the tent as well as cook on. After a short time at the farm, you won't notice the lack of electricity but welcome the quieter, slower pace of life and freedom away from daily distractions.

Can I bring my dog/s?

Most of our farms allow well-behaved dogs (kept on a lead at the farm), find out which locations on our farms page. A maximum of two dogs per accommodation is allowed, with payment of £30 per dog per stay.

Is it suitable and safe for toddlers and young children?

Our holidays are great for younger children to explore nature and the great outdoors safely. Stove guards, cots and highchairs can be provided for your hideaway, and farmers will advise on the best places to play while at the farm itself.

How do I store food without a fridge?

Each tent has it's own wooden cool box, with plenty of space in store your food during your stay. You'll find frozen ice packs or water bottles at the farm in a shared freezer, which you can use during your stay and swap to keep things cool.

What about toilet and shower facilities?

Every canvas hideaway has it's own private toilet inside, bringing the luxury to traditional camping. You'll also have a hot, private shower, which could be within your hideaway, in a private hut just outside or in a shared communal block, depending on the type of hideaway you book.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand plans change, that's why you can request a full refund up to 6 weeks before arrival or a change of date up until 3 weeks prior to arrival. You'll even receive a 25% voucher of your booking value if cancelled more than 24 hours before arrival.

Can I book for a group / more than one tent?

We love coming to the Featherdown farms. The freedom it gives the children is fantastic, and it's the most relaxing holiday you could have. The tents are just charming, and the beds so comfortable. I ended up sleeping in the cupboard bed, and still had a good nights sleep! Nights can be a bit chilly but if you go prepared with fleecey pj's and thick socks it's fine. For the children it's just an amazing holiday they absolutely love it (and me too!).
