Feather Down Farms - from the mouths of our youngest guests

When you think back to your childhood, what do you remember? For us, it's days spent playing outside with friends, the setting sun as your alarm clock to head home. Climbing trees, kicking a football, beach days with fish and chips for tea. A time where there was freedom, fun and family.

At Feather Down, that's the experience that children nowadays get to experience, away from the pressures of daily life. Toddlers can adventure, children can explore and teens put their phones away and embrace childhood again. From the mouths of our youngest guests, the things they remember most about a Feather Down stay is the time spent with parents without their phones, no limits and freedom, and of course, the cosy cupboard bed in our spacious canvas hideaways.

At Feather Down Farms, kids step into a world of open fields, woodland dens and real farm life where everyday becomes an adventure — from building secret hideouts under trees to gentle farm animal encounters and tractor rides with the friendly farmers.

They run free across green pastures, explore nature trails, and feel the thrill of outdoor life far from screens. Evenings are storybook-like, with campfire fun, rustic pizza nights and starry skies that spark imaginations long after bedtime. It’s a place where young explorers make memories, discover the rhythms of nature, and truly taste the simple joys of farm living.

It was a wonderful stay with lots of insights into the life on a farm, a superb antidote to busy life in London. Anna and Mike truly involved us in the lambing experience and were great at explaining farming and answering questions despite behing in the midth of the lambing season.

Yes - very pleasant indeed, we loved it. Fantastic family holiday in a brilliant location, tucked away from it all in central dorset, but close enough to so many different days out - our two girls (2 & 4) did not want to leave the farm, they loved it so much. Fantastic "glamping" accommodation, warm, cosy, everything we needed to have a lovely time and switch off from the clamour of modern life while cooking our dinner/brewing coffee on the woodburning stove. Recommend it to all our friends and shall certainly consider coming back

We have never done anything like this before - but we had the best time ever. our children loved it. Martin and Joddy were fantastic. joddy's lemon drizzle cake was lush, so were her homemade pizzas. martin took us all on a tour of the farm and he was so informative. he was always there to answer any questions that we had. a totally fantastic experience and we will definitely visit again. the farm shop was very well equipped too - lots of marshmallows to melt on the outdoor fire!! Beautiful setting, excellent walks right from the tent, genuinely friendly family hosts, fascinating farm tour which they had obviously put time and effort into developing. _x000D_ _x000D_ Clean shared facilities, toys and books available to borrow for kids was really appreciated and family bathroom perfect for myself and twin four year olds.

It was a wonderful weekend with our children and grandchildren,the facilities were exactly what we expected and the weather was great.Matt and his family ensured we all enjoyed our stay they were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help.Pizza night was particularly good,as was the farm tour. This was our best Featherdown holiday by a country mile _x000D_ And up there as one if our best holidays. Our hosts were second to none from beginning to end. Andrew is a real steward of the land and it is due to people like him that our children might be able to have farming experiences for years to come. Denise was such a fine host with a real eye for detail and a wiz at baking. This stay could not have been improved my only regret is we could not stay longer. We will be back soon.

We had a really great time, the tent was fantastic and the kids (boy of 10 and girl of 8) made friends as soon as we got there and played all day long. I didn't have to worry about them at all as the surroundings are very safe. Hannah and Will were very helpful and made the stay very pleasant indeed. We will definitely be returning for another stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Foxglove Farm and my children love the experience very much. We got to experience calf and lamb bottle feeding, making the scarecrow, joining in a easter hunt and lots of quality time spent together. The tractor ride up to Common Gibbet was one of the highlights.
