As summer draws to a close, we have another nature craft activity for you to enjoy. This wind chime is created from items in nature as well as recyclable items you'll find at home, a great way to reuse and be eco-friendly. Wind chimes are musical instruments that are played by the breeze, they can be a beautiful decoration and help us connect with nature.
You will need:
Hammer, nail, string, scissors and a large plastic tub lid
Bamboo sticks, beads, charms, bottle caps, old keys, buttons, old cutlery or anything else interesting you can find!

To make:
- To make the top of the wind chime, ask a grown up to make 4 small holes around the edge of the large plastic lid, plus an extra one in the centre for hanging.
- Now ask your grown up to make a small hole through any bottle tops and caps that you've collected.
- Cut a piece of string around 50cm long. Tie a bead or button towards one end of the string, leaving a little string spare at the end.
- Start threading your treasures onto the string. Perhaps you could alternate between colours or materials or just mix it up! Make sure you leave enough spare string to tie the chime to the top of the wind chime.
- When you've filled up most of the string, tie another bead at the end to secure your treasures. You might like to add a heavier metal object, like an old key or a piece of old cutlery to the bottom of the chime, so it clangs in the wind.
- Tie the other end of the charm to the top. Now repeat this process 3 or more times, so you create at least 4 hanging charms.
- Thread a final piece of string through the hole in the middle of the top so that you can hang it in the garden.
- Sit back and enjoy listening to the wind whistling past!
