Escape to a simpler life with Wendy and Richard

If you’re looking for traditional rustic comfort, you’ll find peace and sanctuary at the end of the no-through road that leads to Moor Farm in Gloucestershire – described by the Independent as the ideal digital de-tox in 2021. You’ll meet Richard and Wendy and the three generations of the Watts family and hear about their passion for regenerative agriculture and rare animal breeds, one of many reasons why their farm tour is an absolute must. Your tents are situated by the copse, where you will catch a glimpse of their cattle feeding on the Severn floodplain nearby. Moor Farm is an ideal spot for a family holiday in Gloucestershire.

Close by the Cotswolds and some of England’s loveliest towns

If you’re longing to explore outside the farm, the ancient city of Gloucester is just five miles away, famous for its iconic cathedral and history that dates back to Roman times., whilst nearby Stroud was voted England’s Best Place to Live in 2021 in the Sunday Times. If the Cotswolds are your thing, the chances are that your drive home will take you past Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘Diddly Squat’ farm, as well as Bourton-on-the-Water, regularly voted one of England’s prettiest villages.

What to do at Moor Farm

During your stay, you can book a slot to enjoy the indoor swimming pool, as an extra when you arrive. If you want to stay in the pure outdoors then you can build dens or play hide and seek in the copse. As the dusk sets in you can spot wild deer whilst dinner is being prepared on the wood-burning stove with delicious ingredients from the farm’s honesty shop. Pizza night at Moor Farm is a treat with food that should be in a good food guide and home-made cider that you’ll not find in your local supermarket.

A wonderful, welcoming place for our family get together. The tour was great and the pizzas and cider were delicious. All the cousins played happily in the wood and on the field with footballs and also enjoyed a swim in the pool. The tents were very comfortable and well equipped. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. We hadn't been all together since 2019 and it was the perfect place to be able to relax and enjoy each other's company.

What a wonderful long weekend, kids and parents had the best time, switching off and enjoying the outdoors. The farm was amazing and the set up perfect for our 3 and 4 year old to be able to run around, enjoy the woods behind the tents and the farm tour was so enjoyable for us and also interactive for the kids who loved it. Pizza night also fab! So so happy we booked, and already excited about coming back again soon!

We really enjoyed every moment of our stay! Richard and Wendy welcomed us into their home and we felt very ‘at home’. We thought our first Fearherdown experience was lovely, but it wasn’t a patch on Richard and Wendy’s place. We had a lot of rain during our stay and it didn’t affect our experience in the slightest. Lots to see, talk about, and to just enjoy the wonderful location too. Featherdown are very fortunate to have Moor Farm on their listings. We’d love to stay again. Thank you to the family!

I absolutely love this place. Even the terrible British weather didn’t dampen our spirits too much. Richard and Wendy are excellent hosts and Richards farm tour is one of our favourite parts of the stay. The location is fantastic, whether you want to chill out on the farm or get out and about and see the local area. My favourite thing to do is sit out and watch the amazing sunsets while the kids play in the woods. We are hoping to return next year for a third year.

We feel privileged to stay on farmer Richard's land surrounded by beautiful countryside. They make you feel very welcomed and add to the whole experience. We got escorted to our tent on a buggy, home made amazing pizzas, a fascinating farm tour, an impressive tree swing behind tent, the swimming pool and petting the animals. These extras truly make the holiday special.

This was the 4th Feather Down location we’ve tried and as usual it was a lovely relaxing experience - with a particularly welcoming and helpful farmer and family :-) Beautiful countryside location - amazing sunset views from our tent. Great extras on offer - the swimming pool, farm tour, pony walking, morning croissant/bread/milk etc deliveries to the tent and a fantastic pizza (& homemade cider) night!

We had the most fantastic time at Moor Farm. Richard & Wendy are excellent hosts and the entire weekend was perfect. We were lucky enough to have glorious sunshine and the children played non-stop in the woods and in the fields. The pool was great fun and pizza night was delicious. It was our first time glamping and we had such a lovely time. The kids were safe to have freedom around the farm and the friendly farmer went an extra mile on his informative farm tour and pizza night. I would definitely recommend to anyone to go to Moor Farm. It was lovely to relax and get back to a simple life for a few days.

We stayed for 7 nights and had a fantastic chilled out holiday, great farm experience. The hosts Richard and Wendy were really friendly and accommodating, not what I expected from the usual grumpy farmers I know! Richard’s farm tour was fun and really educational, very interesting to listen to him talking about the history of the farm and the farming practices he employs. As I was travelling as a solo adult with kids, I enjoyed the time Richard spent chatting over a glass of the farms pear cider! Our tent had everything we needed and we used the honesty shop every day. The kids (11 & 3) loved it, playing in the woods on the rope swing and tractor, seeing the farm animals and helping feed them, riding in the trailer on the farm tour, the swimming pool, the barn full of kids ride on trikes and toys and just chilling out and playing bat and ball on the field. The location has a great mix of feeling like you are in the middle of no where but actually being on the edge of a city. We were lucky to have sunshine for 6 of our 7 days and the West facing position of the tent made for some amazing sunsets. I am just looking to book to return next year!

Freshly back from a lovely 7 days at Moor Farm. We went as a family of 4, girls of 9 and 14, and our little dog Indy. The instructions on how to find the farm were really simple and made the farm easy to find. On arrival we were met by the farms 2 lovely dogs Paddy and Albie and then by Richard the farmer who took us up to our tent. We stayed in Woodpecker and this was the first time we’ve had a shower and everything was fantastic. Our positioning was such that we had an amazing view of the farm and were right next to the wood with a rope swing and other bits for the kids. The farm is lovely and our youngest really enjoyed the freedom of going in with the animals, especially the ponies which she helped feed with Wendy on a number of nights. We took a few trips to the canals, a lovely walk and also had dinner at The Ship which was really nice. Further afield we took a trip to Stroud which was pleasant and to Eastington farm shop which had amazing cakes. In truth we go to feather down farms to relax and this was such a lovely setting that we were often just on site with a book.We used the swimming pool twice and it was great to have it to yourself, we did meet friends too and the kids all swam together. Pizza night is also a must. What made the stay extra special was Richard and Wendy who were just the most amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so great with our kids. You always felt they were pleased to spend time with you and happy to chat and answer any questions to make sure you had a lovely time. The sunsets were the best I’ve ever personally seen and I think this is a farm that we’ll revisit at some point down the roadIf you’re reading this, thank you again Richard and Wendy for a lovely weekLee, Clare, Mara, May and Indy

Moor farm is where it is at made extra special by farmer Richard and wife Wendy. Perfect escape if you want a safe space for the kids to play in the open fields. Really enjoyed the farm tour with our little one getting to ride the tractor. Afterwards the family took time to let us try their own brewed cider which was really lovely of them - the cider was great too! Everything you need is available from their honesty shop and they even provide a service of fresh bread and crossiants each morning delivered to your tent! You have slimbridge wetlands close by with over 100 species of bird onsite including flamingos! Loads of pubs and a beauitful canal with cafe all close by. Ill definately be going back to Moor Farm!
