The farm of Filip and Ann Louwagie – Decrock, Hoeve den Overdraght in West Flanders, Belgium. It is only about 30 miles from Dunkirk and the farm is far from ordinary! It has nine different breeds of special and rare sheep grazing the meadows and giving up their woolly warmth. Filip and Ann Louwagie – Decrock
The farm has been part of the landscape for many years. It was built around 1850 and has the distinctive Flemish roof. Victor, Ernest and Louise are now the third generation of the Louwagie family helping to run the farm. The farm has built up much that is worthy of sharing! With their own farm wool production, their Holstein cows, and the eye they have for rare and special breeds of sheep.
A great deal has been done already since a change of direction in 2005 to give visitors an insight into interesting areas such as farm crafts and care for the environment and landscape. The renovated cowshed has proven to be ideal for use as an agricultural education space! The space is used for exhibiting wool processing techniques and machines and hosting workshops. Are you familiar with the farmers swimming pool at Hoeve Den Overdraght? The pool is 15 x 20 meters and is about 1.80 meters deep! The perfect way to cool off and splash around in the summer!
Autumn is a busy time, being the mating season, 5 months minus 5 days (145 days) after which, the lambs are born. There are always some lambs the farmer will raise with the bottle, a task that many can help with. Whatever the season, visitors on their family holidays will be able to meet the animals in the meadows and find out about sheep that are rarely seen these days.
The breakfast basket (enough for 4 people) consists of bread and various types of spreads, including cheese and homemade jam. You also get coffee, tea, and more goodies. Exact content may differ slightly per farm.
You will receive all the ingredients, and essentials including firewood, the recipe and cooking utensils to prepare a delicious Farmers Soup at your tent, enough for 4 - 6 people.

We chose the name Overdraght.
This formerly meant a dock: a quay along waterways where they sometimes had to pay a toll to be allowed to sail a particular stretch of water.
Now we are a welcoming haven for anyone who wants to visit and get to meet and find out about breeds of sheep of a variety hard to find these days.
