Escape to a simpler life with Sarah and Tim

Just an hour from London, Canfields is an organic beef farm that nestles between the North and South Downs, the ideal spot for a family holiday close to London. You will be staying with hosts, Tim and Sarah Bargman who will teach you more about their friendly herd of suckler cows. There are also horses that graze in the fields near your hideaways. If you're looking for a unique experience, there's a 2-person hideaway now available at Canfields, ideal for couples, grandparents or friends.

The best of the North and South Downs

Excellent walking and cycling adventures start right from your doorstep. Scenic towpath walks and canal boat trips can also be taken locally. Fishing can be enjoyed at Furnace Lakes Fisheries nearby. Try racing at Glorious Goodwood, Fontwell or Ascot, or golf at any of five courses within five miles. Feel like shopping? Try Chichester and Horsham which are also nearby. Just a few minutes walk away is a local brewery, shop and café called The Milk Churn, the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat and sample the local beer.

What to do at Canfields Farm

The fantastic bluebell woods are close by your canvas hideaway are perfect for den-building, stream-damming and deer, butterfly and woodpecker spotting. A great timbered undercover area at the farm's centre means wet weather won’t inhibit spending time together or devouring delicious barbecue food.

We are sorry but we can’t accommodate your dogs at Canfields.

Well kept site with everything you needed in your tent to make your stay very comfortable. Cows and horses in the field’s opposite and the sound of the night owls were a great addition to the farmyard experience. Once again , thank you Feather Down for an enjoyable stay.

Amazing first glamping experience. The was comfortable and nicely decorated. Tim and Sarah are wonderful hosts, friendly and super helpful. The children loved meeting and feeding the animals and spend time outside playing football with the children in the tents next to us.

I had a wonderful weekend (Sept 17th - 20th) with my husband, all my children and grandchildren and some friends. I was celebrating my 70th birthday and it could not have been better. Been to Canfield Farm before and enjoyed it so much that I thought it was the perfect place to have by birthday gathering. The hosts are fabulous and very helpful. The farm is delightful and the kids - big and little had a ball.

We’ve been glamping a few times but the featherdown experience is on another level! My son exclaimed when we arrived “mummy this isn’t glamping this is housing!” But despite all the comforts it still was the fun outdoor week we all needed. Lots of campfires, lots of running around, lots of excitement every time the chicken laid an egg, just lots of fun with friends in the beautiful countryside. Helpful friendly hosts too. Thankyou!

Great to go off grid for a while and enjoy some wonderful peace at this campsite. Although we didn't have the best weather the children loved it and didn't want to go home. The tent was comfortable and we soon got the knack of keeping the stove going. Shower facilities were very good and the kids loved having their own chickens to look after. We can't wait for our next visit.

The glorious weather certainly played a part but we have had a splendid week at Canfields Farm! Very agreeable and attentive hosts, the kids loved the play area and chatting to the chickens, and finishing every day sitting around the fire pit as the sun went down made for a very relaxing week.

Lovely rustic family break in beautiful surroundings. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The kids loved the animals, collecting eggs and the sandpit. Grandparents who were skeptical about glamping really enjoyed it too.

Great. The Bargmans couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and ensure a good stay (they even let us use their lounge to watch the Champions League final!) My children went from being terrified of the chickens the first morning to spending literally hours in the chicken coup by themselves or with other children from the campsite and feeding the chickens, cows and sheep by hand. Although it is not a big farm the advantage was that you are much closer to the animals. The communal oven and seating area was a good addition that wasn’t at the other Featherdown campsite we stayed at last year.

Fantastic long weekend glamping. We were exceptionally lucky with glorious sunshine which enabled us just to relax on site and enjoy the simple life and bonding as a family. The only daily excursion was a short walk to the Milk Churn café nearby for delicious coffees and to sample the local beers in the Brewery next door. The children quickly made friends with the other children and they all went round together collecting eggs, picking bluebells, going on easter egg and treasure hunts, playing in the sandpit and enjoying musical statues! Sarah and her family were warm and welcoming hosts and the site all ran very smoothly from arrival to departure. The stove took a long while to get going each morning so would strongly advise bringing a small burner for your morning tea and breakfast otherwise you could wait two hours! Outside BBQ and firepit were great and Sarah's stew that we cooked was delicious. The Sunday communal pizza/bread oven was great for chatting to other families and bringing a communal spirit to the site. The girls loved sleeping in the cupboard bed and didn't mention no tv or screens for the whole stay - bliss! We can't wait to return.
