Escape to a simpler life with Faye and Austin

Discover Hollings Hill in Herefordshire, one of the original tried and tested Feather Downs and much loved by journalists. The Daily Express being the last to give the farm a great write-up in 2021. Only an hour’s drive from Birmingham, the farm is the ideal spot for a family holiday in the Malvern Hills. There are Holstein-Friesian cows, ponies and chickens who will be there to welcome you, alongside Austin and Faye and their four children.

Explore the Malverns

If you’re looking for an active holiday, there are plenty of things to do beyond Hollings Hill farm, including walking and biking. There are also visits to spectacular sites like Great Malvern Priory or Eastnor Castle, and to the town of Malvern itself with its famous spring water and shops selling antiques, arts and crafts, and old books. The view from the top of the Malverns across the Wye Valley and over to the Cotswolds is rated one of the best in England.

What to do at Hollings Hill

Why not come and watch the cows being milked? The whole Knowles family is looking forward to giving you an insight into the way they farm here, and from the moment you arrive, they’ll see to it that you are pampered. During your stay, you’ll have unlimited use of the smoke barrel and stew pot, paying only for ingredients from the newly-built honesty shop. As well as wood-burning stoves in each canvas hideaway, there is a rustic outdoor AGA-style cooker for relaxed al fresco meals before you turn in for the night with your comfortable bed. There's nowhere better for a family holiday in the Malverns.

Going without electricity is our greatest luxury

Pizza night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Ask the farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer. But you don’t wait till then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about what goes on at the farm at any time.

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.

Relaxing - amazing hosts

Mrs Murray

It was an amazing experience being on a working farm. The kids especially loved it, playing with the chickens and touring the dairy. They really want to come again. The owner Faye was lovely. The only downside was the cockerels that started at 4am and were so close to the tents impossible to sleep through. Otherwise it would have been perfect.

Mrs Foster

This is our third year at Featherdown and each farm offers a unique, fun filled glamping experience. Farm tours, pizza evenings, toasting marshmallows on campfires to name just a few of the fun activities we did and just enjoying the outdoors with friends. 5 stars!

Mrs Kitchin

So lovely! Chickens in our field and the hot tubs were great

Mr Winter

A wonderful, wholesome experience. Reconnected with nature and enjoyable family time. The log cabin was perfect, had everything we needed, was comfortable and clean.

Ms Finney

We had such a lovely time. The tents are beautiful as are the views, the beds are comfy and we were made to feel really welcome on the farm.

Ms Browning

Beautiful, peaceful location. The hosts were really lovely and welcoming. The log cabin was very comfortable with plenty of space. The Hot Tub takes a while to warm up but definitely worth the wait. Amazing walks in the Malvern Hills and the town of Malvern is a must see.

Mrs Aggarwal

Our stay at Hollingshill was amazing! Everything from the lodge, shower facilities, hot tub, pizza oven was perfect. The location is lovely and the staff are so helpful! Thank you!

Mrs. Deller

Very involved with the animals and family on the farm

Mrs Goldenberg-Shove

The wonders of camping made simple and super comfy!

Mrs Green

It was the perfect break away from it all! Fantastic location for walking the Malvern hills. We received a warm and friendly greeting by Faye and her lovely children on arrival. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed. We spent the days walking the hills and the autumnal evenings sat around the log fire by candle light playing board games. The most relaxing way to spend quality time together as a family!

Mrs Bigwood

Fay and Austin are the perfect hosts , we were made so welcome , and nothing was too much trouble

Mr Kelly

Mrs Clark

Fantastic location, tent very equipped. Hosts very welcoming

Mrs Cooper

Back to basics and a great experience, Faye our host was just amazing and so helpful and kind

Mrs Coombs

We went as a group of four for a short, relaxing break and that’s what we got! We were instantly made to feel welcome by the whole family and we were even given a tour of Freddie’s bird collection which was very interesting and really kind of him! Hollings Hill is a working farm with all the comings and goings as you’d expect - the safari tents are well equipped but with no electricity so we had lots of fun lighting candles and fires for the hot tub and cooking. One tip is to take a flask so you can have a hot drink first thing whilst waiting for the stove to fire up. Beds are comfy and surprisingly warm. This is a ‘back to basics’ break and we found that we really relaxed properly due to this. Thanks for having us, we can’t wait to come back!

Mrs Williams-Cook

A relaxing family holiday where we spent quality time together. The kids roamed freely and safely, we enjoyed time in the hot tub, the views, board games and going back to basics without electricity. My 3 and 6 year old loved it, we'll definitely return.

Mr Knight

We had a fantastic time at Hollings Hill and would definitely go back. Faye and here daughter were excellent hosts. I would recommend Hollings Hill to anyone.

Dr Polli

Welcoming, relaxing and fun. We had a great time.

Mrs Read

Lovely holiday!

Mrs Beale

We had lots of fun and the hosts were very helpful. Hot tubs were great and the homemade scones were delicious.

Mrs Gordon

We had an excellent time and hosts were fantastic. Thoroughly recommend it.

Mrs Richardson

I found the overall stay very enjoyable except the fact that the animals seemed to be kept in very small cages and the dogs were kept in a back yard full of poo. I don’t know the reason but it made my stay less enjoyable. The beds were so cosy and lovely and comfy so they were a massive thumbs up. I liked being next to the field of sheep and horses. The hot tub was GREAT! I didn’t like being so close to the actual house but I liked seeing the farm in action. I recommend Feather Down Farm but next time I would stay in a different place. And we drives four hours to get there!

Mr Gardner

A fantastic escape to the country - Hollings Hill Farm was extremely welcoming and the surrounding area a joy to explore

Mrs Bisset

The hosts and setting are lovely, the only downside is that it is a very noisy working dairy farm and the milking sheds are very near the field with the tents. As the towns seem to be milked last thing at night and 1st things in morning, there is a lot of tractor and beeping noises at 11pm and early in morning (5am?) and some of the tents' bedrooms back right onto the direction of the noise (not sure why the tents were positioned so near?). If we came again (as the setting is beautiful and hosts very friendly) I would def insist on a tent/cabin at the top end of the field.

Mrs Tiffin

We had a very relaxing week at Hollings Hill. Faye and Austin were very welcoming and had lots of good suggestions about places to visit in their local area. They have put a lot of thought into their coronavirus procedures and we felt completely safe. The farm's location is beautiful. We loved the hot tub and can also highly recommend the home made sausages!

Mrs Price

We had a fabulous few days at Hollings Hill Farm. The tent was very well equipped, very spacious and had great beds (especially the cupboard bed!). The area around the tent was spacious and had great views. To be on a farm was an added bonus, the children loved it. All-in-all it was a very relaxing weekend, I would thoroughly recommend it. Just remember to take a battery operated light for each person as it can be quite dark with just candles lit and a small gas operated cooker is very useful for making tea etc as it can take time to get your fire going!

Ms Barr

It was a different experience but a wonderful one, the host and her children were extremely helpful and nothing was too much for them to do for us. I would recommend this to anyone to try out glamping.

Mrs Palmer

A wonderful Weekend, where the pace of life slowed down, electronics were out aside, and nature, fresh air and sunshine were enjoyed to their fullest.

Mrs Lewis

Relaxing, friendly and beautiful scenery

Mrs Rive

We had a wonderful experience at Hollings Hill Farm. We loved the rustic charm of the canvas safari tent. Faye, the owner, was lovely and very welcoming. The hot tub was very clean on our arrival and we used it most nights. The wood burner kept the tent lovely and cosy and the beds were really comfortable. My little boy loved the cupboard bed. We had a great weekend on Hollings Hill Farm and would definitely go there or another Featherdown Farm again.

Mrs Lowe

We think that our hosts were absolutely fantastic.. we have recommended to all our friends that hollings hill farm is a must visit. The pitch and equipment were second to none. As a working farm it might prove too noisy for some (but we understood this was the case so for us not a problem), might be worth maybe flagging this up a bit more when booking. Overall though a brilliant place with amazing hosts.

Mr Wood

Amazing family break - the children were away from electronics and playing outside!

Mr Holiday

A brilliant holiday. Children and adults loved it equally. Our hosts were incredible. We’ll definitely be bask.

Mr Groves

Absolutely ‘wonder’ full
