What to do at the farm
At Richard and Lycke's farm De Appelsche, every day is an adventure. Help out on the farmyard among the cows, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, horses, ponies and donkeys. Pick your own bunch of flowers in the picking garden, discover the petting zoo or stroll along the local footpaths.
For the little adventurers, there is plenty of fun to be had with a go-kart track, sandpit, water play and a football field. Get fresh, regional produce in the farm shop and enjoy the flavours of the land. End the day toasting marshmallows in the cosy fire pit and then crawl into your soft bed, cosy from all the outdoor adventures.

In the local area
Appelsche Farm is located in the quiet Fochteloo, near the cosy Frisian town of Appelscha. Appelscha is a true paradise for outdoor sports, with hundreds of miles of hiking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding trails. The routes go through several adjacent nature parks, such as the Drents-Friese Wold, one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands, and the Fochteloërveen, an area that borders the UNESCO World Heritage in Veenhuizen.
While enjoying all this nature, you can also visit the Duinen Zathe Amusement Park or the Prison Museum, both of which are nearby. After an active day, you can return to the tranquillity of the farm, where you can fully recharge.
