Escape to a simpler life with John

Within easy reach of both London and Birmingham, lovers of the Cotswolds will find Hidcote Manor Farm irresistible. It is a National Trust farm along with Hidcote Manor Gardens next door. You will be staying with John Righton and his family, who have farmed there since 1942. This 300-acre farm is devoted to both arable and pasture, where the 450 breeding sheep graze in what must be the ideal spot for a family holiday in the Cotswolds.

Explore the Cotswolds

Your tents are just a stone’s throw away from one of England’s most iconic honey-coloured limestone hamlets, Chipping Campden, home of the Arts and Crafts movement, just a four-mile footpath walk away. Broadway village, ‘the jewel of the Cotswolds’, is a short drive by car as well as the beautiful Bourton-on-water. A little further is Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare and a must for theatre lovers everywhere. There can't be a better place for a family holiday in the Cotswolds than Feather Down's Hidcote Manor.

What to do at Hidcote Manor

Stroll around the farm’s garden and watch skylarks, lapwings, and finches at work. After that, you should try Hidcote Manor Garden itself and its riot of colour. Come and say hi to the lambs in spring and help with the bottle feeding. You can catch a glimpse of the badgers that roam around the farm during the summer evenings if you’re quiet enough. End the day by playing some games around the candlelight and enjoy a good night’s sleep in your comfy beds.

Fantastic site. Tents were in great condition and up to featherdown standards as usual. The site was in a great location - quiet, picturesque and with lots to do locally. Owner was really friendly and helpful. Loads for the kids to do there. Had a wonderful time and would recommend 10/10

Wonderful few days away with our little girls (2 and 4). Exactly what we needed. We were there early in the season (early April) which meant it was cold at night (-1) and a touch muddy on the access route but still comfortable. Bottle feeding the lambs with John a definite highlight for the girls.

We had a fantastic time staying at Hidcote farm, there was only one other family as it was midweek so we had a whole field to ourselves practically, the view was spectacular from our tent. So much open space for two young children, or the one who could walk! The tent was really well stocked and comfortable - the toilet and shower more powerful than ours at home! The wood burner was a nice addition to my cooking repertoire, plus the bbq when we needed it. John was really welcoming and helpful, and the farm is near so many great places to see in that corner of the Cotswolds. Highly recommended

This is a perfect location to go away with a group of several families. We had the whole site to our selves. Open spaces, good walks, great tents and showers. Spectacular National Trust gardens and manor 2 minute walk away. Campfires available for every tent. Perfect for a long weekend in nature.

We had a fantastic few days enjoying life on a farm in a lovely part of the Cotswolds. The facilities were excellent and our host was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Lots to do in the local area with lovely pubs for an evening meal. The kids enjoyed collecting fresh eggs in the morning. We will definitely be back!

Hidcote farm is set in a beautiful location in the Cotswolds. It is set within rolling hills with quilted farmland, there are many walks and wonderful little villages with bags of character. The facilities were first rate and Farmer John was very helpful and had clearly spent a lot of time organizing a Covid compliant holiday for us. We felt very safe and relaxed in the Natural setting. We had a birthday meal at the Kings Arms in Mickleton , the food was excellent and even kept a fussy Vegan happy. A beautiful part of the world , we look forward to a return visit. Thank you Farmer John and Family.

What a fantastic few days. The perfect place to get back to basics - outdoor cooking, candles & oil lamps in beautiful surroundings. John gave us a very warm welcome & we were greeted every morning by a few roaming lambs as well as a daily visit to see the horses, chickens & ducks.

Blissful - a lovely few family days relaxing and enjoying the beautiful countryside. The tents are amazingly sturdy and weather proof. Manage to weather the storms warm and cosy. The Hidcote Manor gardens are stunning and we enjoyed playing a game of tennis there.

We really enjoyed the experience - farmer John is very nice. We have stayed there twice now and would suggest the following 1) put a sign on the electric fence - our two year old touched it and was hurt 2) add a plank of wood to the boggy area you walk through to stop buggies and luggage getting wet and make it easier to access the accommodation 3) cleanliness of hut could be improved - evidence of previous occupiers was in tent 4) honestly shop fairly barren - it could be an opportunity to make money and would benefit customers

It was quite challenging initially not having any electricity and not being able to park car next to our accommodation but these things did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the weekend stay.
