Farm stays under canvas

We are just back from staying with Faye, Austin and their lovely and very polite children._x000D_ We booked a three night mid-week stay to test out the Featherdown idea and now wished we would have booked a full week._x000D_ _x000D_ The place is very spacious so the kids can run themselves silly. I loved the fact that there is no electricity for all the electronic gizmos of these days and even switched the mobile off after an hour and one of the excellent ciders one can get from the well stocked (and decently priced) shop._x000D_ _x000D_ Anything required can be found in the tents and the multiple cooking facilities proved themselves very practical and easy to handle. I recommend to have the first nights dinner ingredients ready or book one of Faye's stews in advance (there is no shop close by)._x000D_ Faye's Lasagne, cooked in the outdoor oven was very good and even my daughter, who usually shuns Lasagne finished her plate, followed by Marshmallow roasting on the camp fire in front of the tent._x000D_ _x000D_ Our days went as follows: Wake up, kids run out the tent (which they can as there is no way of getting lost there), I light the stove(s), cook breakfast, kids come back, hungry - feed - kids gone again. And then they periodically return for more food. Evenings where shared with board games, the hot tub, camp fire stories and finally falling asleep in the grass._x000D_ _x000D_ Be aware though that this is a fairly big working dairy farm and that there will be some noise in the middle of the night, however, all the tents are tucked away in a different area and its fairly impossible for any children (or you) to get in contact with any farm machinery, except on the farm tour which was very interesting too._x000D_ _x000D_ All in all, one of the best holidays ever! Just looking to book it for next year :)_x000D_ _x000D_ A,C &P

Complete bliss. From the quirky boutique style accommodation, through to rolling fields and uninterrupted views in front of us - our camp even had it's own garden! The shower (which I thought would barely tricky) was like a spa experience of piping hot jets standing in a sauna like space, with a nice refreshing rainforest experience when it was time to turn the tap off! The owners were amazing and felt like old friends ... and indeed became friends along with many other guests as we chatted around the pizza oven watching the sun set, whilst the kids all bounced on the trampoline. We even adjusted our pace to the slow pace of the kettle on the wood burning stove! But for us our 6 year old summed it up:- 'I like climbing on the hay bales and the fact that I'm not glued to the telly all the time' ..... After years of digging deep into pockets for long haul holidays, we realise what both us and the kids have been missing (although the brilliant weather of course helped). Thank you Feather Down

We had a wonderful time. Great accommodation, and great location. Lucy and Marcus were perfect hosts and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, and after a long flight everything was prepared beautifully for our arrival.We will definitely be back!

Excellent experience, Hannah, Will & the family are fantastic hosts. Accommodation is wonderful, so much for all the family to do we did not need to leave the farm during our stay. Plenty for the kids to do. Throughly relaxing enjoyable experience. Can not recommend highly enough. Everyone is excited at the thought of booking up again for next year.

The farm owners were very helpful in directing me to local activities, especially as I had to keep four 12-year-old boys busy for four days. They were also thoughtful enough to put me in a tent alongside a field with football posts so that I didn't always have the boys underfoot when preparing meals. This is my fourth stay with Featherdowns.

We had a very lovely 3 night stay. The family of the farm were very friendly and hospitable and we did not want for anything. The tents were spaced out very well with no one over looking one another and the kids play area was a god send to keep the little one happy! We loved walking through the woods, collecting fire wood and also taking the boats out on the pond. The tents themselves were really lovely and cozy, just the right mix between roughing it and being comfortable!_x000D_ _x000D_ Many thanks again

Extremely, which even the rain didn't effect. It was good plain family time, in an environment which the kids thrived in and we all thoroughly enjoyed. Kevan , Joy and family were the perfect hosts and very accommodating, given our knowledge of the area was limited and our experience of camping and farm life even more so.

Warren Farm is in an amazing location, the view from the tent on the Gorge is just stunning! We did the walks recommended by Kate and James, the Cheddar Gorge one is a long hike but so worth it! The farm is great, nice clean warm showers, well stocked honesty shop, lots of games available, playground...and the chickens and Lucy the dog kept our son busy! Only regret is to have missed the farm tour as we underestimated how long the Cheddar Gorge walk would take us! Strongly recommend Warren Farm!
