Hill Farm is set on a ridge looking out over The Somerset Levels, an area of outstanding natural beauty that is home to much wetland wildlife. The location has stunning far-reaching south-facing views for 20 miles across The Levels to the Blackdown Hills. Surrounded by woodland and farmland that truly make it the perfect destination to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Hill Farm lies at the end of a dead-end country lane called Wood Drove and offers a wide selection of walks for those keen on outdoor activities. Why venture off when you can simply relax and take in the beauty of the countryside from your luxury accommodation. Wake up surrounded by nature and take in the panoramic views right from your doorstep. You will have everything you need in your tent to make your glamping holiday complete, from comfy beds to a wood-fired stove and private ensuite shower. Experience this little piece of paradise for yourself at Hill Farm.
If you like to explore, head out to the AONBs of the Blackdown Hills, Mendip Hills or Quantock Hills. These areas are perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. Discover Somerset’s charm from a different perspective as you paddle through the ancient town of Langport with Langport Boat Hire or take out a bike from Parrett Trail Bikes, blow glass at Shakspeare Glass or go visit the alpacas at Stoodley Alpacas in nearby Curry Rivel! There’s plenty of wildlife at Hill Farm, from barn owls to wild deer, as well as domesticated animals for kids to get up and close and personal with. The area is also famous for its starling murmurations at RSPB Ham Wall and for The Great Crane Project’s re-introduction of the majestic common crane after a 400-year absence – they say the last one was shot to be eaten by none other than Henry VIII!
For history buffs there’s Muchelney Abbey, which was once a landmark greater than Glastonbury Abbey in the heart of The Somerset Levels, just two miles south of Langport. The famous little town of Glastonbury, which in Arthurian legend was the Isle of Avalon, is only 30 minutes away, and as you might be able to guess by its name, the world’s best music event, Glastonbury Festival is held not far from this location every year. Wells, Bath & Bristol are easily do-able in a day trip as is a trip to the seaside. This location truly does offer you everything you could possibly need to make your stay the most wonderful experience. Your lovely host Peter is also a very big foodie so he’ll be able to furnish you with food or point you in the direction of the area’s restaurants, cafes and bakeries!
