Can we park our car next to our tent?
No. At the location, there will be a designated parking area. From there you can use the provided wheelbarrow to transport your luggage to your accommodations. Cars are not allowed on Feather Down properties and next to the accommodation.
Do we have to bring our own food and drinks? Is there a shop on site?
At most of our farms, you can find an Honesty shop. As there are only about 5 to 10 tents at the farms, the selection in the farm shop is limited. The available selection will mostly consist out of basic necessities for breakfast and a simple warm meal. Other than that there will be juices, sodas, beer, and wine. Snacks and some sweets for the little ones can also be found in the shop. Some farm shops also offer ice cream during the summer. Other than that there are also the local products and handy items such as toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
How many tents are there on a Feather Down farm?
The number of tents varies by location (tent numbers range from 1 to 10).
Is there mobile phone signal at the farms?
Due to the rural locations of our farms, it may be that mobile signal could be a little patchy (all the more reason to switch off and enjoy re-connecting to nature)! However, in the event of an emergency, the farmer hosting you would be more than happy for you to use their landline to call for help as needed.
Is there a minimum length of stay?
Yes, for most of our glamping season our farms work on a 3-night minimum length of stay at weekends, and a 4-night minimum length of stay mid-week. At certain times, for some of our farms that might take longer to travel to we do offer 2-night stays at weekends, during low season or out of school holidays.
During your stay, the farmers are your hosts, and it is important to us they remain as farmers, therefore our minimum stay policy is in place for their work and commitments.
Got to leave on the Sunday? If you have booked a 3-night stay and do have to leave on the Sunday, then you can enjoy the farm and your canvas hideaway all day.
Can we stay longer than the nights you are currently offering?
Currently, we are only offering 3, 4, and 7 nights but if you would like to request for a longer stay, please contact our booking office at +44142080804 or email us at info@featherdown.co.uk
Can we stay on different days than what is on offer eg Wednesday - Saturday?
Our arrival and departure days are on Mondays and Fridays. During the regular (bank) holidays such as Easter and summer, the dates are set. If you would like to request a flexible arrival date please contact our booking office at +44142080804 or email us at info@featherdown.co.uk
Can I purchase travel insurance from Feather Down?
At the moment, you are not able to purchase travel insurance with us. We recommend that you get travel insurance from a third-party provider
Can we pitch our own tent or bring our own caravan?
No. Feather Down is a unique concept which we treasure deeply. Because of this, we do not allow to bring your own tent or caravan.
Are there additional costs to be paid after booking?
No, not to our UK farms. If you are travelling to our farms in the EU, there may be a tourist tax to pay upon arrival. The amount varies per country.
Do we have to clean the tents when we leave?
It is expected that guests do the following on the day of departure:
– Empty the bins, putting rubbish into a waste bag and placing it in a container
– Strip the beds, collect all linen and hired towels and bring them to the designated area.
– Make sure the washing up is done and has been put away
– If you book a few tents, please make sure the right number of cutlery, chairs, etc., is put back in the right tent.
What time do we have to check out?
On the day of departure, please check your booking welcome document for the time you are required to vacate your accommodation. The time does vary by farm and location, although the latest time to depart would be by 10.30am. Should you not vacate the accommodation before the specified check-out time, your host is entitled to charge an extra fee of £30.
What time can we arrive?
Arrival check-in time is between 4-6pm to give you the best experience for your stay. Please double-check your welcome document as times sometimes vary per farm. Due to the time needed to prepare the accommodations for the arrival of new guests, it is not possible to arrive before 4pm. Should you be delayed and expect to arrive after 6pm, please contact your host(s) to make them aware of this as they are welcoming you to their home and may have been working on the farm during the day. You can find the contact number as well as the address for the farm in the welcome document on your personal page, which will be available once your booking has been paid for in full. Should you arrive later than 8pm, your host is entitled to charge an extra fee of £30.
Can a hot tub always be booked as an extra?
Some locations have hot tubs available, but just like all other extras, they can be booked while supplies last. Farms with hot tubs
Can we bring our dog?
Most of our farms allow well-behaved dogs. A maximum of two dogs per accommodation is allowed, upon payment of a fee of £25 per dog per stay. Dogs must be kept on the lead at all times while on the farm and cannot be left behind in the accommodation. In the event that your dog causes damage to the accommodation or the farm and its livestock, you will be liable to bear the full costs. You can find a list of our dog-friendly farms on our farms page.
Can I hire a bicycle?
Some of our farms will have the option for you to hire bicycles. This can be booked online or directly at the farm if it is still available.
Do we have to book our extras at the time of booking?
No. You can book the extras at a later stage up until a week before you go via us, your personal page or directly at the farm. We advise you to book some of the more sought-after extras in advance due to their popularity or limited stock, e.g. hot tubs, bicycles, and activities for children.
