Farm stays under canvas

A fantastic weekend break . We had a phone call from the farmer to check we had essentials to ensure we were ready for a weekend in October . On arrival we were welcomed and showed to our tent . Yes your are camping but with luxury , the beds , the floor and running water . First night dropped to 4 we were warm ! The highlights were farmers tour , seeing a ten min old cow walk , a ducks egg and watching my girls forget London and really play . Already looked at going back . Thank you

Featherdown was the perfect place to have the family unplug and get back to basics...playing, exploring, relaxing, connecting. Richard and Wendy were incredibly thoughtful hosts who provided everything we needed for a weekend at the beautiful Moor Farm. We look forward to returning!

This was our fourth Feather Down Farm holiday. We are a family of two adults, three children (ages 10, 7 and 4). We had a great time although a bit different to our previous experiences on farms. What we loved: Andrew’s farm tour and speaking with him in the evenings about managing the farm – absolutely fascinating; Denise’s welcome and her truly fabulous cooking and baking (definitely order the lamb dinner – the best lamb we have ever eaten); the fishing lesson with Dennis – catching fish was an absolute highlight of the holiday for our children; the shower block – definitely the best we have experienced at Feather Down. What didn’t work so well for us: 1) The site on which the tents are located felt very small and enclosed. Our children need a good space to run around when they are outside and we like to be able to see them, especially the youngest. In other farms we have visited, the tents have been in the middle of a big field which has meant we could relax and leave the children to it. However, here we had to take them into another field or to the beach to let off steam and so we had to be with them most of the time. 2) The children had almost no interaction with any animals which was very disappointing. There were sheep and cows on the farm but not for children to engage with or pet. There was a lovely horse but he only once came to us when we tried to encourage him over. Collecting eggs was in fact the only activity for the children that involved farm animals which was a huge shame.

Lovely accommodation - great comfy beds ! Our children loved the freedom that Featherdown Farm, Sunninglye gave, they loved collecting eggs and feeding the pigs. Great idea to give us all a tour of the woodlands where we came across a small boating lake that the children (and Dads) enjoyed taking the boats out.All in all a great weekend

We took our grandchildren with some trepidation as we had not camped since our own children were small, the whole experience was delightful, the tents very spacious, cosy and warm as wood burning stove was excellent, toilet and shower much better than expected, shower really hot. Above all the beds were comfortable. Setting very peaceful, saw a barn owl patrolling close by each night, plus a hare and a grouse just near the tent. Will definitely do again next year.

The whole family had a great time. The tent was clean and tidy with all the equipment that you need for your stay. The site itself was good with a trampoline, swings and a rustic swimming pool for the kids...an adults on some occasions.The tents are a little too near to the cow sheds as the flies can become a little tedious after a while but its the nature of a dairy farm I suppose. The toilet was leaking in the inlet which put water all over the bathroom floor. The staff were aware of the problem with the toilet but were unable to fix it when we stayed.Ann the owner was very welcome and always willing to assist with any issues you may have and knowledgeable about the area. There is good cycling in the area with marked cycle lanes on all the major roads which are away from the main carriageway, and I was happy for my 7 year old to cycle along them with no issues.The family would go back to this site.
