As always, Upper Shadymoor through Feather down was a fantastic trip. From the moment you arrive, you can feel all the stress and worry of every day life just melt away as you enter 'Shadymoor time'._x000D_ _x000D_ The tents are outrageous, they have a real cosy cabin feeling to them. By day the farm is beautiful with so many fantastic activities to do, like shooting, lake swimming and of course the beautiful hot tub on the lake. _x000D_ _x000D_ Some of our party went deer stalking which was out of this world - being so close to such elegant animals was an experience we will all remember for a long time._x000D_ _x000D_ By night the tents come into their element, with all of us rallying around, lighting lamps and candles, and others lighting the stove or a campfire for us all to sit around with our marsh mellows._x000D_ _x000D_ From start to finish, this weekend was perfect, and as always looked after impeccably by the lovely Fox family. They certainly make the place more magical if that is possible, with their kindness, generosity and humour._x000D_ _x000D_ Thanks to the team at Feather down also who made the process seamless throughout the booking process_x000D_ _x000D_ We will ALL no doubt be back very soon!

Moor Farm is definitely our favourite! Both Richard and Wendy make us feel so welcome and their hospitality is why we’ve come back again. Everyone loved their stay and the chance to meet all the animals up close and personal, not forgetting the stunning scenery from our tents. Highly recommend the farm!

A back to nature retreat with the comfort of an amazing tent. The wood burner made the tent warm and cosy. A huge thank you to Richard and Matt for their welcome. We really enjoyed the farm tour and seeing how passionate the family are about their farming. My boys loved collecting baby corn! Great pizza night and having warm croissants delivered to the tent each morning was a real treat:-)

We are just back from staying with Faye, Austin and their lovely and very polite children._x000D_ We booked a three night mid-week stay to test out the Featherdown idea and now wished we would have booked a full week._x000D_ _x000D_ The place is very spacious so the kids can run themselves silly. I loved the fact that there is no electricity for all the electronic gizmos of these days and even switched the mobile off after an hour and one of the excellent ciders one can get from the well stocked (and decently priced) shop._x000D_ _x000D_ Anything required can be found in the tents and the multiple cooking facilities proved themselves very practical and easy to handle. I recommend to have the first nights dinner ingredients ready or book one of Faye's stews in advance (there is no shop close by)._x000D_ Faye's Lasagne, cooked in the outdoor oven was very good and even my daughter, who usually shuns Lasagne finished her plate, followed by Marshmallow roasting on the camp fire in front of the tent._x000D_ _x000D_ Our days went as follows: Wake up, kids run out the tent (which they can as there is no way of getting lost there), I light the stove(s), cook breakfast, kids come back, hungry - feed - kids gone again. And then they periodically return for more food. Evenings where shared with board games, the hot tub, camp fire stories and finally falling asleep in the grass._x000D_ _x000D_ Be aware though that this is a fairly big working dairy farm and that there will be some noise in the middle of the night, however, all the tents are tucked away in a different area and its fairly impossible for any children (or you) to get in contact with any farm machinery, except on the farm tour which was very interesting too._x000D_ _x000D_ All in all, one of the best holidays ever! Fabulous, quirky tent in a peaceful, sunny spot, west-facing and overlooking a deer park. We were blessed with dry weather and with sunshine most of the time, although it did get cold at night, so we're glad we brought some hot water bottles. We were also blessed to have the site to ourselves throughout our stay, although there were 2 bored and hungry large dogs from the Tower hanging around the tent much of the time, which was fun at first, but did become annoying and concerning, especially at meal times, even though they were docile, as our youngest child is just 2. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we hope to stay again. We loved the hot tub and the bedrooms, which were dark and had comfy beds with fluffy duvets. Guests with young children should bring a bed guard for the top bunk as it would be easy to fall out. The phone signal in the tent and general locality was good, but there was no 2G or 3G Internet signal, so if you need to check emails, look up weather forecasts, etc., go somewhere with free wi-if, e.g. The Sun Inn at Kelvedon. Note that the website is out of date. For example, the showers are now gas-powered, so you don't need to fill up a barrel from the hut tub. Two final hints: there are 2 power sockets inside the bothy for charging mobile phones or tablets, or for using hair dryers, etc. I imagine there would be a lot of competition for those during school holidays, so you might want to bring a multi-socket adapter. Also bring your own ping-pong balls (table and bats are provided) as the ones in the bothy are 50p each. Have a great stay - we highly recommend it!

We had an excellent time. The location of the farm is great as are the hosts Marcus and Lucy. The accommodation exceeded our expectations providing everything you need with clean, comfy beds. The kids loved every second of the holiday. We would defo return to College farm or would be happy to experience another location.
