Norfolk glamping family holidays on the farm | Feather Down

Norfolk glamping

Norfolk glamping with Feather Down farms

If you long for rural peace and quiet away from the noisy city, treat yourself to a Norfolk glamping family holiday on a Feather Down farm. From the magical waterways of the Broads to the fabulous coastlines, the county is a paradise of unspoiled countryside…

Norfolk’s wonderful wetlands

With well over a hundred miles of waterways to enjoy, the Broads offer the perfect escapist retreat, whether you’re exploring by motor cruiser, sailboat or canoe. On the way,  you can watch out for the birds that make the riverbank their home, such as the kingfisher and the great crested grebe.

Picturesque towns

A stroll around Norwich’s fine collection of Medieval buildings is a must for history and architecture buffs. A short drive away from the Feather Down location, College Farm, are the famous coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh – an absolute must for a seaside visit and fish and chips!

Feather Down moments

In the evenings, you can cook farm-fresh local produce on a wood burning stove and then dine by candlelight under a starry sky. Just one of the many joys of glamping Norfolk with Feather Down. Why not try it yourself sometime soon?

Lucy provides a very comprehensive folder of things to do and places to go (and avoid!) We found an Italian restaurant, not too far away in Kirby Cane - The Olive Tree where we had an outstanding meal. The ambience was lovely, the service attentive and helpful and the food was just fabulous! Even my ultra picky 11 year old son loved the food so much that he wanted to go back for breakfast! It wasn't cheap, but we felt it was good value for such a memorable meal.

We booked the Sole Bay fish restaurant - at the harbour-before our holiday, as it was a bank holiday. Highly recommended. We loved the pier. Fabulous shops if you organise your time. We went to a great butchers and watched our chipolatas be made the old fashioned way and then popped round the corner passed Joules to nutters for local cheese. We went to Bewilderwood, a magical world for little ones. Take a packed lunch. The rest of the time we just loved being on the farm. Eating, drinking and enjoying the animals. We left early on our arrival day and explored Southwold. Our second day was spent taking a tour of the farm, feeding lambs, meeting the ducklings and enjoying the facilities on the farm. We also borrowed some bikes in order to explore the local area a bit more. On the next day, which was very wet, we hired a boat (with cover!) and took it out to Geldeston Locks for a pub lunch. Finally we took a trip to Walberswick which is very quaint. The children played on the beach there and the crabbing looked fun.

Bewilder wood was fantastic. It is an adventure playground in the forest with fantastic zip wires, slides and tree houses. _x000D_ We also enjoyed hiring a boat and pottering around the broads for a few hours.

We hired a boat from H E Hipperson in Beccles and it was a great experience. Nice small boat, beautiful easily navigable river. Even ours sons, 5 and 10, got a chance to steer! The beach at Pakefield was lovely and spacious too.

If you are dog friendly ,you should ask Lucy or Marcus to take "Bramble", their black Labrador, for a walk. He will be very thankful :).
