Escape to a simpler life with Llinos and Geraint

An original Feather Down and our first farm in Wales, Pant y March is in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park. You will be staying with Geraint and Llinos Jones, who bought the farm in 2007 - Llinos’s grandfather was born there more than a century ago. In keeping with the mountainous nature of the farm, they keep 200 ewes, a few cows, some chickens with everything being kept in place by the sheepdog. It is the most mountainous of all of our Feather Down’s with far reaching panoramic views across Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), the largest natural lake in Wales - the most spectacular spot for a family holiday in Snowdonia.

Adventures in Snowdonia

Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) is second to none for water activities. You can rent canoes, paddle boards, sailing and rowing boats at the foreshore in Bala, along with whitewater rafting at the Tryweryn centre. For early morning wild swims nothing beats the tranquil beach at Llangywer, one mile walk from the farm. For those who enjoy biking, the nine mile flat cycle track along the estuary from Dolgellau to Barmouth is a short drive away, as well as the world famous Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre. If you leave the car for the duration of your holiday, there are endless walking paths in all directions from the farm, to the top of the mountain behind the farm or the 2 ½ miles to village pub, with the icing on the cake being a narrow gauge railway journey back to Llangywer!

What to do at Pant y March Farm

Due to its mountainous location and an absence of heavy machinery, the farm is a peaceful haven, where visitors young and old are encouraged to roam freely as befits a family holiday in Snowdonia. As the day draws to a close you can enjoy spectacular sunsets across the lake, viewed from your private hot tub. To recharge after a day of exploring, tuck into local produce before slipping into your comfy Feather Down bed.

Pizza night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Ask the farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer. But you don’t wait till then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about what goes on at the farm at any time.

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.

Meet your hosts

Llinos and Geraint

We are the Jones family, Geraint, Llinos and daughter Martha, and we purchased Pant y March in 2007. The family has had a long association with the place as Llinos’ grandfather was born here more than a century ago.

Welcome to our peaceful Snowdonia haven, where younger visitors are free to roam in this mountainous location.

Amazing family holiday. We had the whole site booked out as a family and it was brilliant. Hot tubs a real hit with the kids and the view added a real wow factor. Pizza night was delicious and hosts very accommodating, even helping to get our car which broke down the hill and on the repair truck. Definitely recommend.

Mrs Hicks

We booked Pantymarch near Bala because of the fantastic reviews and the quiet location for a weekend away for my husbands 40th. We have previously stayed at other Featherdown farm sites which were lovely, quiet and relaxing so could not wait to stay here and repeat the good experience. We paid over £500 for what was meant to be a really special weekend away. We were especially looking forward to a quiet weekend being able to enjoy the outdoor views and the hot tub in peace and tranquility (as per the reviews on the Featherdown site). There was a family party for the owners daughter on the Saturday night with a number of attendees, rugby ball being kicked round the field and the quad bike being driven around the field on a regular basis by other children. This meant we needed to keep our kids inside the tent as far as possible and did not feel comfortable using the hot tub with an audience. Every time party attendees walked past our tent they had a good look in which meant we had to put the flaps down and could not enjoy the views etc. We asked for the party to be quieter so that my daughters could get to sleep at 9pm. It was moved to the house but still very loud. Around 10.20 most people departed (loudly, directly behind our tent, car doors slamming etc and this woke the kids up again). Four kids then proceeded to get ready to get into the tent next to use for a sleepover and started to get into the hot tub - the rugby ball was still being kicked around at this point and so I spoke to the owner again to ask her to ensure the children were quiet - I made it clear this was not what we had paid for or expected, especially having a kids sleepover party in the tent next door. She took the children to the house in the end. We left a day early and will never be booking featherdown farms again. Such a shame as this is completely against the way these holidays are billed (relaxation, quiet etc). We live in a city with neighbours all around and never once have we had trouble sleeping due to noise. Plus side the location is lovely as are the views - such a shame we could not enjoy them. Just to note I have no issue at all with people having parties etc but I really think there was bad judgement shown here - the party and sleepover should have been postponed until the next time no paying guests were staying as the situation ruined our weekend and probably theirs too.

Mrs Williams

An amazing 3 days away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

A truly magical time in the most wonderful setting.

Mrs Westwell

We had the site to ourselves and enjoyed the quiet, secluded location. We loved the view of the lake although you couldn’t see it from the tents. Hosts were warm and friendly. Only go here if you like dogs as their dog Jess was with us constantly.

Dr. Tillett

We had such an amazing holiday. Such a brilliant location with so much to do we will need to come back. Children and the dog just loved it and everyone relaxed and enjoyed the tranquil surroundings. A big thank you

Mrs. Freshwater-Turner

Fun and relaxing with beautiful views

Mr. Mahu

It was outstanding from all points of view: the friendly animals and the fascinating smogasbord of views. The host(s) were very friendly, helpful and attentive. They gave us a brilliant farm tour explaining everything in the location. Around the location the activities available are endless, catering for all tastes: art and history, adventure, climbing, etc.

MS Finn

From start to finish this was a magical weekend. We had the warmest welcome on arrival from the owners and Jess the dog and from there on in nothing was too much trouble. The farm walk at sunset, feeding the lambs, collecting eggs each morning and soaking up the stunning views in the hot tub kept our two boys happily entertained and all four of us smiling. And we are still smiling now back home full of happy memories which will keep us going until the next visit!

Mrs. Collins

Amazing experience, friendly farmers, cute sheepdog and lots of just born lambs
