This was a magical stay, campfires, walks down farm tracks, the books by the sea library, the farm tour with the farmer 'Guy' was incredibly informative, educational and we really appreciated the time he took to show us around the farm and describe some of current practices and challenges UK farming faces. The site manager Lotti was also really welcoming, helpful and on hand throughout our stay, we definitely hope to stay again.

An utterly amazing escape from it all

Good. Lovely site, and well placed for local amenities.

Excellent holiday, we didn't want to come home. Everything was exceptional from the hosts / location / accommodation / food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be looking to re-book for next year. The accommodation was clean and tidy with everything you need, the beds were very comfy. Our host Lotti looked after us and ensured we had everything we needed. We booked the BBQ and Pizza night; the food was exceptional and I would highly recommend it, it is not to be missed. Just an excellent break, thank you.

This Featherdown Farm is a short car journey from Seahouses and the coast. There are great views over fields towards the sea- perfect for nature lovers to watch deer, owls and other birds from the tents, as well as local farm animals. The 5 tents are in close proximity, but this doesn't take away any privacy: they are positioned carefully.
In the field, there is plenty of space for children to run free and play with other camping guests.
The ensuite toilet and shower is excellent and such a luxury whilst camping. The tents do get quite chilly so we would advise to bring plenty of layers- it is still camping after all!
Guy is only too happy to chat and show you around the farm, whilst Lotti is the perfect hostess.

We had such a lovely time, everything was great, location was perfect and picturesque.

From the excellent accommodation, the warm welcome from Lottie, the farm tour that taught not just the kids but the adults allot about farming, an overall wonderful weekend break in a great location. I would highly recommend this to all.

We had a fabulous time and the farm site, tents etc were all excellent. Lotti was an extremely good site manager and really looked after us. For this particular Featherdown farm the one thing that really felt like was missing was a kids playground. All the kids in our group complained about this and it helps the grown ups if the kids have somewhere to play. I feel that it definitely needs this. Also the honesty shop was lovely and sold some fabulous things but there were no prices on anything - I do think this needs adding for transparency.

The location was stunning, the tents and ensuite shower excellent and the hospitality faultless. Our kids were a little disappointed however, with the lack of play area (compared to other farms) and whilst the Sunday pizzas were excellent, the food on Friday night was not great nor value for money.

Beautiful location, amazing service and local knowledge and tents well equipped wot in everything we needed. Would highly recommend!

Relaxing and peaceful

The accommodation was good (comfy beds and good shower) and the location on the edge of Seahouses was perfect for us, but this wasn’t a patch on other Featherdown farms we’ve stayed at. Five tents just seem to have been plonked in a field with very little thought given to the surroundings. No chickens or animals, no play area, we didn’t even see even a farm dog as the site isn’t run by the farmer. The field was nice enough but completely exposed so it was really difficult to cook outdoors due to the seaside winds. We are are used to cooking outdoors but lighting a fire was hard due to the wind, the large gas burners provided blow out every few seconds, and there was minimum fuel provided for the small one ring burner (which actually stayed lit). Lots of massive pans provided, none of which were suitable for the only cooker that worked. The log burning stove provided was okay for warmth but never got hot enough to cook on (again, we know how to use these and have cooked breakfast on them at other feather down locations). We also had some neighbours who were noisy late into the night, which obviously isn’t Featherdown’s fault but was annoying. We had one night of bad weather and the tent was definitely watertight but the design made it extremely cold overnight, far colder than we’ve ever been when camping as there are lots of draughts. We will return to the area but not to this site unfortunately.

Lovely relaxing family time. Very welcoming hosts.

Relaxing and truly wonderful getaway. We had great quality family time and met new friends as well.

We had a brilliant time. The location and owners was a friendly, social and have safe environment for everyone. Our kids were able to thoroughly enjoy the outdoor and open air along with the layout of the lodges being good that you could either see or hear them with others and interact well and not have to worry, but still in our own spaces. The local recommendations plus of those also away at the same time helped us enjoy some lovely parts of the local area, and enjoy local businesses food offerings.

Great first time glamping!

Northumberland is beautiful with plenty to do. Was made all the better with a comfortable, cosy glamping lodge to come back to each night. We loved it. Meg and Guy were must welcoming and you can tell have put their heart into this new venture on their farm. A great holiday experience

Whilst the farmers were pleasant people and this was their first Featherdown year, the farm itself was not a patch on other Featherdown farm experiences. I’m not sure how it passed the Featherdown branding test tbh. We are very disappointed, given the cost of this holiday in comparison with other glamping holidays that aren’t on farms. This felt like a Featherdown tent dumped in a crowded field. There was no farm tour offered and our chickens had apparently been eaten by foxes the night before we arrived. We didn’t feel like we were on a farm; I didn’t interact with an animal all week, we know nothing of the farm and what they do other than what was outlined in the welcome pack. The new tents were great (we’re used to the no frills tents); but the new wood burner doesn’t have a vent you can leave open so fires took longer to make. It didn’t help that there was no kindling for the first 4 days till we mentioned it to Meg and the Wood was too green. We’ve never had so much trouble getting a good fire going. There was a problem with the shower which was fixed but it took a day and meant we needed to visit friends for a wash before going to dinner. The shower head had also been fixed to the wall so that you can’t stand under it, you have to hold it. Apparently this is a featherdown construction error- though a pretty annoying one- not to be able to star under the shower. The outside gas fire isn’t much use as it’s impossible to position it so that the wind doesn’t extinguish the flame. The tents are too close together; you can hear every word of your neighbour’s conversations which is particularly annoying if they’re still up enjoying their first night at1.30am! It’s probably equally annoying for others to be woken up by our kids asking us for breakfast. We’ve never experienced this before. There is no focal point for kids; play area, animal area etc as there has been on other farms we’ve been to. They could run up and down the narrow, small field and up to the shop- hardly roaming free - naturally they ended up playing in front of their own tent only rather than in front of other people’s.The shop wasn’t great, for example we mentioned the lack of marshmallows and none appeared all week, in spite of the ‘just ask, we’ll get it in’ approach outlined in the welcome pack. Surely marshmallows are pretty fundamental to a Featherdown shop!I could go on..... In summary, this just wasn’t a Featherdown experience. This was just a really disappointingly expensive camping trip. It may seem like nit picking but this really is an expensive holiday in comparison with standard glamping trips but we always think it’s money well spent because of the ‘featherdown’ element. We rely on Featherdown to do the branding check for us.Our friends stayed in a pretty luxurious self catering house for £50 less per night just a mile away! We could have done that, spent less and seen the same sights and visited a farm trip independently.I doubt you’ll put this on the website and I’m not sure that would be fair to the farmers - Featherdown have put their name to this and we’ve paid a premium for something we haven’t got.If Featherdown contact us for more info then we’d be happy to discuss.

Well-run, friendly farm in a fantastic location for exploring Northumberland. The owner’s local recommendations were fab and really helped us make the most of our stay. Thank you!

I recommend Northumberland farm so much, as it's SO EASY to get to via train & bus from London! One of the best vacations of my life! My six year old daughter and I spent the week unwinding and having fun on the farm. We learned so much, and our hosts were simply outstanding - they went above and beyond to make us feel at home and welcome.

Unique! We had a wonderful weekend, accommodation very comfortable, everything we needed with a rustic ambience. Kids loved it! We will definitely be rebooking!

The location was perfect and very safe for children. We were all made so welcome by Kirsten and loved the pizza making night. The tents were brilliant and so well thought out - We had a lovely relaxing break and would definitely book again.

Anxiety @ what I had got myself into initially, turn out to be a great experience for a city dwellers family on vacation. All thanks to Kirsten for ensuring our stay is warm and cosy with those duvets and fire starting techniques. Also as great is the farm tour that gave us some valuable insights in running a farm. The kids had a great time making pizzas, and get to eat it too! Believe we will remember this stay fondly for a long time.

The location is beautiful and we hired chickens and a rabbit which the kids loved. The kids aged 8,10,12 and 13 all enjoyed the farm, playing with the animals and mucking about with wheelbarrows! The only extra they’d have liked would have been a swing or two but they all came back happy and exhausted! Nearby seahouses was beautiful too.

Have never been glamping or camping before but from arriving to leaving, enjoyed ever moment. Kirsten & Guy very friendly and helpful giving local information on the area and responding to any queries quickly. Totally enjoyable experience with great facilities.
