Escape to a simpler life with Sue and Ivor

The location of Treganhoe is hard to beat, on the Penwith peninsula close to Lands End, the ideal spot for a family holiday in Cornwall. It's a quiet location with stunning views. You will be staying with your friendly hosts Ivor, Sue, their son Mark and their daughter Ali, whose family have been farming the land here for the past 100 years. Treganhoe is a livestock and mixed farm that works closely with the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. The rest of their animals, the sheep, pigs and goats (new for 2024!), you will find in the paddock close to your canvas hideaway.

Coast to coast

Each morning there's a decision to make - shall we head to a beautiful beach to the north or a beautiful beach to the south? Dont worry, both are less than half hour's drive away. Evocative Cornish names are close by like Marazion, Sennen Cove and Porthcurno beaches, awaiting you for wild swimming, paddle-boarding, surfing or just sandcastle building. The picture postcard pretty St Ives is close by as are Penzance, the iconic St Michaels Mount and the stunning outdoor Minack Theatre. There couldn't be a better base for a family holiday in Cornwall.

If walking is your thing then stride across the moors like the cast of Poldark (much of it was filmed nearby) and take in the abandoned tin mines and Neolithic monuments like Lanyon Quoit and Men an Tol. Fine dining and excellent pubs are in abundance, as local food and drink are at the forefront in Cornish cuisine.

What to do at Treganhoe Farm

Since Treganhoe is a working farm, there is always something happening here. Wake up from your comfy beds in the morning with a freshly baked croissant from the honesty shop then give the farmers a hand feeding the sheep, pigs and goats - they love your attention. New arrivals for 2024 are Duke and Hazzard, two cute pygmy goats who can't wait to welcome you to the farm.

You can enjoy the Cornish sunset whilst eating home cooked food from the honesty shop or local produce cooked over your campfire or BBQ, the perfect end to a busy day.

Exactly what we hoped for. Sue, the host, was the friendliest person you could hope to meet and nothing was ever too much trouble. The aga baked scones were to die for and are delivered still warm to your tent. Location of the site was brilliant for visiting all of western Cornwall. There were no faults with our stay and we would go back tomorrow if we could.

Het was een superplek en Sue was heel erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Het weer was niet top, voor de kinderen was er een soort hut. Ze hadden veel vriendjes dus heel gezellig samen.

Absolutely fantastic!! Sue made us feel very welcome (as did everyone else but we saw her the most!) She was also great at making sure our kids were included in feeding the animals (as some of the other children were bigger staying there and more confident) We loved the accommodation, atmosphere around the farm and the kids especially loved feeding the animals!!

We had a fabulous time! The Featherdown ‘tents’ are brilliant. Our teenage children loved it too. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely host Sue (who made the best fresh Cornish scones with heaps of jam & cream). All highly recommended.

This was our second time returning to Tregenhoe farm. Sue and family are the most welcoming hosts, the location is idyllic with easy access to many beautiful beaches and stunning costal walks, and the kids love the freedom to run around and feeding the chickens every morning with Sue.

The loveliest of hosts and an idyllic location. We preordered the warm welcome and arrival meal which after a long journey was ideal. Highly recommend Sue’s delicious home cooked food, fresh bread and bbq pack from the honesty shop. We enjoyed pizza night too. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay and wished to have stayed a few days more.

Carefree and relaxing especially for the children. Open the tent flap and off they go to feed animals, collect eggs, play games & runaround endlessly! Perfect! Only negative: thought pizza night was included in package.

Perfect location to explore what Cornwall has to offer. Beautiful beaches, walks, bike rides, farms and towns. We loved it all! Treganhoe farm was a perfect location where we could stargaze away from light pollution but still close to lots of busy seaside towns too. Sue and family were fantastic hosts. The tents were amazing, the bed comfortable and the shower plenty warm and powerful. All needs were catered for. We loved every minute and will be returning

Sue and Ivor

Our family has farmed at Treganhoe (“Cornish farm” in Cornish) for four generations - almost 100 years.

We look forward to welcoming you soon to our winning combination of farm, beaches and unforgettable scenery.

Pizza oven 2

Highlight

Pizza night

The farmer will sometimes fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Ask the farmer

Highlight

Ask the farmer

The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about farm life at any time, or you can take the chance to discuss farm life while feeding the lambs, goats and piglets twice a day.

Highlight

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.
