Farm information

The farm:

Gambledown Farm, a 270-acre mixed farm dating back to 1875, lies just 5 miles from the New Forest National Park and the county of Wiltshire. The farm is home to shorthorn beef cattle that calve each April, and in the spring there are lambs to bottle feed. Breathtaking views over the farm, the Hampshire Downs to the east, and the Wiltshire plains to the west, can be taken in from the prime position of the Feather Down tents, right at the top of the field.

Activities on the farm:

At the bottom of a mile-long private road you find an oasis of calm, plus a safe haven for children, who can explore the fields, woodland and a gorgeous living willow tunnel on your glamping Hampshire holiday. Children will especially love the play area within a large covered space – great for groups – with its kids’ tractor ride, giant chalk board, swings, ping pong & swing ball. There is a football / rugby field too, and badminton is also available. But don’t forget to visit the horse, pigs, rabbits and guinea pigs, and the new calves, of which there are usually more than 30!

A pizza from the wood-fired oven makes a special family dinner for one night of your Hampshire family holiday. Home-reared beef is available too, and makes for another indulgent meal.

Explore the area:

For adventures beyond the farm, the New Forest surroundings feature diverse walking/cycling routes, mountain bike trails, and picturesque little villages, with the famous New Forest wild ponies at every turn. A few villages away is a stream that is perfect for a freshwater dip, and there are tennis courts to try out on the village green. A 10-minute drive away is Woodington Fishery for trout fishing, and the exhibitions at National Trust Mottisfont Abbey.

Gambledown Farm is a wonderful place for families and children of all ages, and nearby attractions provide even more delights. Paulton’s Family Theme Park is just 7.5 miles away, or for something slightly different try a trip to Salisbury Cathedral, home to the best preserved original copy of the Magna Carta. There’s also historical Winchester, 17 miles away, Stonehenge within 23 miles, and the Dorset beaches are 45 minutes away.
