Sleep in large comfortable canvas hideaways, small-scale holidays on a farm in the middle of the countryside. That is Feather Down's version of family glamping, the original and best. Our tents, which we call canvas hideaways, are nearly 500 square feet, have cosy beds and offer room for up to five people plus one child. And the best thing about it? There is no electricity. That might just be our biggest luxury nowadays...
Family glamping in a Feather Down Farms canvas hideaway means more time for each other. Screens are put away as the views are so fantastic. You do your cooking on a wood-burning stove and your light comes from oil lamps and candles. Make the most of the star-filled skies in the summer and the cosy warmth from the stove when it is a bit chillier before diving into your comfy bed for the quietest of nights. And who is in the cupboard bed tonight?
On a Feather Down Farms family glamping holiday there is always so much to do. Go adventuring into nature or just play with the animals or help the farmer milk the cows. Before you know it, you will be totally immersed in farm life. Fetch fresh eggs first thing, milk from the cow and fry up that cooked breakfast you'd been promising yourself all year.
It was no coincidence that the new word ‘glamping’ was coined by a journalist around the time we launched to describe what was on offer at Feather Down. We are proud to have been a pioneer for a new way of holidaying but with some of the elaborate tree-houses and palatial yurts on offer today under the banner of ‘glamping’, we feel that some of the original simplicity has been lost. A Feather Down holiday is about escaping to a more simple way of life and that’s what we focus on now, whether it’s our wi-fi and electricity free canvas hideaways, our straightforward pricing or our no-fuss website.
