Our guests had a glorious time at College Farm last year. On the southerly tip of the Norfolk Broads, many were happy to sit out in front of their south-facing tents and watch the sails of the pleasure craft in the distance pootling up and down the River Waveney, past a field of swaying sunflowers.
Those of a less lazy disposition enjoyed the horse-grooming and safe cycling up and down the field. Others went native and ended up staring through binoculars at the wild birds, messing about in canoes and boats with oars and fishing rods, or taking day trips to the back streets of Beccles, Bungay and Aldeburgh.
Many of Norfolk’s outstanding beaches and the coastal resort towns are a short drive from the farm like Southwold. Bewilderwood, the tree-house adventure park, just over half an hour’s drive away is a really popular excursion for our guests too.
Those who love the great outdoors can pull on their walking boots and follow any one of the marked routes within the Waveney Valley, which make the whole area an adventure playground. There are also the nearby nature reserves of Minsmere, Dunwich and Orford Ness for those who love to watch wildlife.
We’ve loved getting to know all our guests, because we really want each one to have a Feather Down experience that they’ll remember for a lifetime. One kindly commented that our “attention to detail was faultless and touching,” and indeed giving them our Farm Tour was a complete pleasure. On it they met and fed the cattle and lambs, collected chicken eggs and became immersed in the daily life of our farm. Along with our newest addition, our son Henry, we hope to be able to do the same for you.
