“Our children loved being so close to nature and the animals, and it felt safe and peaceful. The perfect holiday!” commented one of last year’s guests, to our delight. We’re very proud to be Feather Down’s most popular farm, booking out on key dates up to a year in advance, and with the sandy beaches at Studland and Swanage, the instantly recognisable Durdle Door, and the atmospheric ruins of Corfe Castle right on our doorstep, we make a great base for exploring.
The farm nestles under the Purbeck Hills within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a walk through the farm fields and a climb up Nine Barrow Down lead to a spectacular view of Poole Harbour, the coast at Bournemouth, and on a clear day, the Isle of Wight. You can then join the South West Coast Path, which runs from Dorset to Devon.
Back down by the woods and the streams you’re more than welcome to watch our dairy herd being milked. We’re sure you’ll want to linger on our 156-acre dairy farm, as the woodland we are backed on to is perfect for adventurous play.
You’re welcome to watch our herd being milked and their calves being fed, as we love to pass on our knowledge of dairy farming. We run the farm with a little help from one of our daughters, Issy, who look after our miniature ponies, a mother and daughter duo called Issy and Lana who are available for grooming sessions. They can’t wait to greet you.
